Write for us
We welcome thoughtful proposals about countryside leisure: a well-shaped outing, a home pursuit, a seasonal custom, a cultural visit or a gathering with a clear point of interest. A strong contribution gives readers an idea they can carry into their own free hours.
What to pitch
Send a focused proposal with a working title, the central idea, the intended reader and a short account of what the piece would help someone notice, choose or plan. We welcome explainers, comparisons, background pieces, myth-checking and occasion-led guides. A pitch should stand on its own without relying on statistics, first-hand testing or claims that need specialist authority.
A good fit for the almanac
We look for specificity, a gentle sense of place and a useful idea that does not turn leisure into a checklist. Keep the subject distinct from existing coverage and explain why it suits a weekend. Please do not send confidential material, unsupported claims or work that depends on rules readers must verify locally.
How to send a proposal
Proposals are sent through the Contact page. Choose the editorial question option and include your pitch in the message field. Please send a proposal rather than a full finished article unless one has been requested; no publication or response time is promised.
